Wire Rope Slings, the Best Choice for Rigging and Lifting
Why turn to wire rope slings for your lifting and rigging needs? They provide the best strength, durability, abrasion resistance and the ability to conform to the shape of your load. They can lift heavy objects such as rough castings, hot or irregular shaped metal, and stone parts.
Which wire rope manufacturer should you use?
Flemish Eye Method
We recommend manufacturers that uses the Flemish eye method of producing eye and eye, sliding choker and pipe lifter slings. This method creates the most efficient use of capacity sling eyes can offer.

Only trained professionals should attempt to create a Flemish eye sling. The process includes several steps, including:
They open (or un-lay) the wire rope body into two parts. One part contains three strands of wire rope, while the other contains the remaining three strands and core.
The wire rope cable is un-laid back far enough so the eye can be formed. It is then formed by looping (re-laying) both parts in opposite directions.
After the eye is formed the strands are secured by a metal sleeve slipped over the ends of the splice. This sleeve is sealed (swaged) with a half million pounds of force.
When 500,000 lbs of force are involved, the job can be dangerous – and it’s best to rely on trained professionals to the task of Flemish eye splicing.
In-House Proof Testing
We also recommend wire rope manufacturers with an in-house proof testing center. The ability for wire rope suppliers to verify the integrity of their products before they leave the door is important.
Instead of relying on a third party to load test (in our case up to 150% the working load limit of the sling) and affix an OSHA appropriate DuraTag, we own the entire process. Our tags list the size, working load limit, number of legs and angle chart graphics. No more guess work on what your wire rope cable can handle. You can be rest assured when you see that gold painted sleeve your Tway Lifting wire sling has been verified to meet industry standards.
Types of Slings
So what types of slings does Tway produce? What kinds of things can you lift with our products?
Sliding Choker – Sliding choker slings are manufactured with a special hook that slides up and down the rope between the two eyes of the sling. This feature provides the person using this product to have an adjustable hitch around a load. The uses for this type of sling are endless.
Eye and Eye Sling – Eye and eye single legs are the most common type of wire slings. Tway manufactures wire rope slings, spreaders and assemblies from ¼”-2”. Our stock of fittings and components allow us to produce a full range of multi-leg assemblies, crane boom support cables, and bridge crane hoist ropes.
Pipe Lifter – These 1″ x 4′ pipe lifter slings are manufactured to be used with a tea cup pipe lifter. This sling is an industry standard for lifting concrete water and sewer pipes with positioning holes.
